In one of the very first articles on our blog, we discussed how to get on higher positions in search engine optimization by even such relatively small steps as filling in the descriptions of your images or galleries, or the keywords of your blog posts. But the path to the better search engine optimization can start much sooner, specifically with the name of a photo you want to upload to your portfolio.
Lets say that the below shown image was created with a generic name composed of a tangle of words and numbers, for example dsc-2429.jpg. But if you would choose to rename this image before uploading it to JuicyFolio, you can use keywords that your potential visitors may also use while trying to look for similar images on the Internet, and through that find your website.
If you would rename this photo for example to mountain-snowboarding (the ".jpg" will be attached automatically), then this photo will be more visible for Internet search engines. You however also need to keep in mind which keywords will people use while searching, and which aspects of your photo you want to highlight. At the same time, it is important to write the image names without brakes - you can replace them with dashes.
And if you will in this manner rename all the images on your portfolio, you will again be one step closer to a better search engine optimization of your website.
